Scientific methods

      I.            Vocabulary


1.      Scientific methods are ways in which scientists follow steps to answer questions
2.      observation any information you gather through your senses
3.      hypothesis is a possible explanation to an answer or a question
4.      predictions  are statement of cause and effect that can be used to set up a test for a hypothesis
5.      factor is anything in an experiment that can influence the experiment outcome

6.      controlled experiment an experiment that tests only one factor at time by using a comparison with a control group with an experimental group
7.      variable a factor that changes in an experiment in order to test a hypothesis

   II.            Answer the questions
1.      The steps of scientific methods
a)      Are exactly the same in every investigation
b)      Must always be used in the same order

d)      Always end with a conclusion
2.      Give 4 reasons why scientists communicate results.
